The services you can get on this number vary from country to country.)

It is not always necessary to seek /emergency/ medical attention (e.g. for minor skin wounds, episodes of brief seizures, etc.). If assistance is needed, the helper should notify /alarm emergency medical services, the Poison Control Center, or other qualified medical assistance depending on the specific situation.

- Stay Calm

- Use 112 even if you have no credit or no SIM card: Calls to 112 are free and can be made from any phone, even without credit or a SIM card.

- Provide clear information:

- State your name and describe your knowledge of first aid.

- Clearly state your location:

^ Municipality and if necessary, district, street and number or any landmark in the area - for example a warehouse, petrol station or monument.

^ In the case of an accident on a motorway, indicate the motorway number (e.g. E40), the direction lane and the nearest kilometre/mile marker.

^ In the case of an emergency in a large building or site with difficult access (e.g. a block of flats, a school or a shopping centre), indicate to the emergency services the address of the entrance where they should go. This may not be the main entrance, but the nearest entrance or the one with the best access (e.g. an elevator, ramp, shelter, etc.). Make sure that all routes are clear (no closed gates or barriers, lifts open, etc.) so that the valuable time of the emergency services is not wasted.

^ danger of explosion, high-voltage cable falling to the ground, etc.

- Provide information about the victims and describe their condition:

^ Number of victims.

^ Are there children, babies or other victims who need special care (e.g. disabled, pregnant, diabetic).

^ Is the victim conscious and breathing normally?

^ Are there any specific injuries visible (e.g. bleeding or open fractures)?

^ It is good for the operator to know that someone will be there to guide the team to the scene of the incident.

^ Answer the questions asked by the emergency centre.

- Follow the operator's instructions: Listen carefully to the operator's questions and follow their instructions. They may guide you on what to do until help arrives.

- Do not hang up too soon: Stay on the line until the operator tells you it's okay to hang up. They might need more information or need to provide you with guidance.

- Have someone meet and lead the emergency team to the scene.
